Since 1977 and the release of A New Hope, the Star Wars franchise has become a global phenomenon.Within one of the most successful movie franchises of all time is a handful of life lessons that can be transported from the galaxy far, far away to our very own.
Here are a couple:
1. Live in the now
“All his life has he looked away…to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was.” – Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back
Yoda tries to engrave in Luke’s mind the importance of focusing on the here and now rather than letting his mind drift to the future. This flaw of Luke’s character is one which we could all take note of: be present and live in the moment!
2. Sometimes it is best to just let go
“Let go of your hate.” – Luke Skywalker in Return of the Jedi
“Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose.” – Yoda in Revenge of the Sith
Instead of following in Darth Vader’s footsteps and holding in negative feelings, try to accept the past for what it is and move forward with the present and all that comes with it.
