Getting Back into the Swing of Things

Can you believe it? We’ve completed 3 weeks of school… Let me repeat… 3 WEEKS OF SCHOOL… Almost a whole month into school and I’ve been ready for summer vacation since I walked in on the first day. To be fair: everyone is thinking the exact same thing.

With all of those textbooks and tons of homework, it’s stressful and can be frustrating at times, but I’m here to help all of you ‘I’m-about-to-throw-a-tantrum-because-I-can’t-do- it-anymore’ people. Here are some small ways you can de-stress about school:

  1. Pack your backpack the night before– This is for all the people (like me) that sometimes or ALWAYS forget something important at home. Pack your bag the night before. It sounds silly and a bit of a stretch for some, but it helps a whole lot in the long run. Personally, I would pack my stuff for my classes (for the next day) after I do my homework, so it is 1.) not on your list of things to do in the morning 2.) You are not in a scramble to pack it come 7 am.
  2. Print as much as you can at home- If you don’t have a printer, I understand, but for the ones who like to procrastinate about finishing a project or paper; you are better off printing it at home. I’ve been there, getting to school at 7 am to finish a paper or procrastinating to print it at home and instead emailing it to myself to print at school. There are a few problems: emailing it isn’t always guaranteed and there’s a slim possibility of finishing that paper in 25 to 30 mins. Best thing to do is to print it at home because you have it ready to hand in and it buys some free time when you get to school in the morning. And if you happen to not have a printer, my best advice is to use google docs, it’s a LIFESAVER. For google docs, it automatically saves to your account, so you can log into your account and there’s your document.
  3. Put your alarm clock on the opposite side of your room- The toughest part of any school morning is waking up. First alarm: 5:45, second alarm 6:00, third alarm 6:05, Fourth alarm at 6:10. And you eventually get up at 6:30. For those people, it’s hard. If you want to get up at the exact time that you get up, put your alarm clock completely away from your bed. This will wake you up completely because for this you would have to get up to turn off your alarm clock, which helps get you up and you won’t ever be in a rush to get out the door in time for the bus.

It’s going to be a rough 173 days of school, but we will endure upon this journey, together.
